A Heart For The Voiceless by Gerhard & Sandra Stoltz
In a world where whispers of creation softly tread,
Lives a woman whose heart for the voiceless bled.
A guardian of strays, in her embrace they find,
A solace, a shelter, from a world unkind.
With every shadow, a story she weaves,
Of trust and trepidation that never leaves.
Her honesty, a beacon that shines so bright,
Guiding the lost, through the darkest night.
A mystery she remains, veiled in silent prayer,
Her faith, a fortress against the snare of despair.
In her eyes, the reflection of the divine,
A testament to her belief, eternally benign.
Her beauty, not just a visage that one admires,
But a soulful grace that kindles friendship's fires.
To know her is to journey through myriad hues,
Of a spirit so caring, its in the strays she rescues.
For in each creature, small and scared,
She sees the love that's to be shared.
A friend in need, a friend indeed,
A woman of faith, a rare breed.
I received this message from my friend, neighbour and best dog Dad in the world, Gerhard, whilst sitting at my laptop, where I can usually be found when I'm not spending time with the animals, at 00:22, during another late night burning the midnight oil.
Gerhard is also a night owl like me and I had messaged him a few minutes prior, strangely at 00:00, to remind him to let me know which Eco Vet products he would like me to order for his 17 year-old Daschund Gracie, the light of his life and the centre of his world.
I was in the middle of an online course by Dr Will Falconer, a traditional vet of 7 years and homeopathic vet for 44, who specialises in how to keep your pets vital, alive and in optimum health and who is one of the many international experts I bury myself in to learn how to give the very best to all those in my care.
Gerhard usually sends me silly TikTok cat videos at all hours of the night so that's what I was expecting, but when I read his message, a poem that he had written about me, it brought tears to my eyes.
I have included it on my website as it's the most beautiful poem I have ever read, that anyone has ever written for me and about me, and to remind myself that my efforts are seen, valued and appreciated, in particular during the times when my light is dim and in need of renewal and refreshment.
I'm very hard on myself and demand perfection, in every area of my life, both from myself and others and I find being imperfect and living in an imperfect world very difficult.
I constantly have to train myself to let go, forgive, learn the lesson and move on, and this is particularly challenging where lives are concerned, especially when they are in my hands.
It is so wonderful to be seen and received by another person, my Soul leaps with joy for these rare special relationships that are so wonderfully nourishing and nurturing, where each party truly gets the other and where all challenges and differences can be overcome and resolved.
Gerhard, Sandra and I bonded over the rescue of 9 sheep, who Sandra was feeding, watering and fattening up, trying to close her mind off to their fate which had been sealed by the local farmer.
Once I found this out, I had no option but to buy them and save them from the freezer, and together, we got them all to the safety of a rescue sanctuary, where please God they will live long and happy lives.
This is what love is.
This is what truly makes the world go around.
That, and aspiring to be perfect and sometimes attaining it.
In the realm of faith, this is known as koinonia, the achievement of oneness with God.
The only path to perfection.
To everyone who loves deeply, may we continuously seek to become perfect.
May we slow down enough to tune in to the beating hearts of all those around us and creation itself.
May we cast our own needs, desires and fears aside to make space for others.
And may we experience glorious moments of perfection, with energetic waves that ripple out and change the very fabric of life, in the best possible way.
Amen.
